Always wondered what that song was about. Any ideas?
Thanks for sharing a memory from a time when my kiddies were tiny, mortgage was at 17%, work on Monday morning.....and a long way to go before I got my pension!

@Anonymous & @journeys from Wikipedia

Note... it says " The Album.........."
It goes on to say....

Thanks @shutter, being a US No. 1 would explain why it wasn't found in my search.

It's a good album there's no doubt, but to be honest it wouldn't be in my to 10 unlike Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon.

Yes, there is music that is decades old that is in the opinion of many; 'timeless', with this being a typical example.

I've worn out my Pink Floyd Pulse double DVD.
Hotel California is on my top 20 of all time list.

Well I used to like Quintessence! When I was about 14 I heard their 'In blissful company' album from '69 but on listening to it now I suspect it may have been a phase I was going though! It is rather idiosyncratic.

Tubular Bells hits the memory spot for me and I can well recall being gobsmacked when I first heard it played live back in the early 70s I think it was on the Old Grey Whistle Test - or something like that.
It was certainly different.
PS. Here we go, just found and playing it now.
