Re: Old Radio progrms quiz

Ouch! showing my age now...
2 Educating Archie (Peter Brough, with the only ventriloquist show on radio!!!)
4 Billy Cottons Bandshow (Sunday lunch's were not complete without it)
5 The Brains Trust (a bit of a high-brow university challenge type show)
6 Two Way Family Favorites ("over to Bill Crozier in Cologne" my older brother doing his National Service in Germany, had a request played)
7 Mrs Dales Diary (my mum never missed it)
8 The Navy Lark (Leslie Phillips. that wonderfully thick sounding "intelligence")
9 Woman's Hour (could get quite risque for it's time, often covered subjects that were considered unmentionable elsewhere)
10 Workers Playtime (midday variety show from works canteen's, a throw back from WW2)
11 Down Your Way (Franklin Engleman)
14 What's on the table Mable? (Wilfred Pickles, uhmm! not sure that's what the prog was called, might have been; Have a go,  " are yer courting")
15 In Town Tonight (early magazine show)
16 Meet the Huggets (by today's standards, very dull, mundane, but very popular in it's day)
17 Desert Island Discs (Roy Plumbly, simply the best)
18 Children's Hour ("are you sitting comfortably? then I'll begin")
19 Pick of the Pops (the fore runner of all pop music programmes)
20 The Light Programme
      The Home Service
      Radio Luxembourg
(couldn't get many more than that on my crystal set)
Anyone remember: "J o u r n e y into Space" Jet Logan, Lemmie, written by Charles Chilton.

Experience; is something you gain, just after you needed it most.

When faced with two choices, simply toss a coin. It works not because it settles the question for you. But because in that brief moment while the coin is in the air. You suddenly know what you are hoping for.

Ah Lemmie, such a nice boy ... it's so a shame he went on to grow that awful moustache and take all those drugs Sad

Indeed we should not. Can't remember many of the names now - Caroline (north & south), Invicta, Essex, London - I'm sure there were many more.
Anyway, they did a good job of shaking up the BBC, which was sorely needed at the time.

Re: Old Radio progrms quiz

i remember some of those, especially the 'monkey's paw' episode, but they're not what i'm thinking of.  i vaguely recall the name 'williams' in association with these and they were only five minutes long, not half an hour.

5  A professor from keele university  ran it
12  had a team
13 He is back in a different guise
