Ok google..

Seems my phone has decided to start spying on me recently.

Twice today it's said to me "if you've just said something, i didn't hear it". Somewhat perplexed I said "ok google" to which the listening screen popped up. This doesn't normally happen unless i press the dot in the middle at the bottom of the screen and drag it upwards. Only then does it start listening.

So anyone else got a phone suddenly start listening full time? I only need to say ok google and it jumps into action.

Where's the tin foil..

I need a new signature... i'm bored of the old one!

The only time to worry is if Google is your pet name for your wife.... Or girlfriend!

Re: Ok google..

There has been the odd occasion when my PC has responded to something spoken on the TV.

It's quite amusing.

I'm aware of it having been around for ages, it's been on my phone since i bought it however as mentioned, normally i'd have to swipe the middle icon at the bottom upwards for it to listen.

Now it seems to be listening constantly. How do i turn that off then?

Re: Ok google..

I might ask my wife if she can change her name to Google. Then at least I know I will get a reply when I ask her something 😂😂😂😂

Re: Ok google..

East Germany was way ahead in this respect, every home had to have a telephone socket, although actually getting a phone was a bit like getting a Trabant, i.e. years on a waiting list.  The phone socket, however, contained the microphone through which the Stasi could monitor the citizens.

Perhaps, @7up, you have been specially selected, as Reader's Digest used to say, to take part in a trial by the security services in order to 'improve' their service to the citizens.
