Bournemouth couple celebrate their 80th wedding anniversary!
Quote
A BOURNEMOUTH couple are today celebrating their 80th wedding anniversary - and said if they knew the secret to a long and happy marriage they would 'bottle it and sell it'.

What a milestone. Congrats to them Smiley
Apparently the 80th wedding anniversary is 'oak'.
I'd have to reach 125 to enjoy mine Cheesy

Re: Oak

According to Wikipedia 85th is "Wine" and 90th "Stone". A headstone awarded posthumously?
Need to be careful choosing "oak" presents. I was in Homebase earlier today. On display was a nest of table described as "Oak-Solid Pine"! (not "oak veneer" or "oak finish").

Re: Oak

Neighbouring farmer has been married 70 years, it is customary to receive a congratulations anniversary card from the Anniversary Office at Buckingham Palace for every year after 60 years of marriage.
Was collecting the milk from the farm this afternoon, mentioned the "Oak" to the farmers wife, who commented that on her 10 anniversary cards the queen was always wearing the same dress.
"Did I think she should  donate the queen a summer frock",
nice to see a sense of fun Grin
