Re: OMG I nearly fell of my chair!

Might be "old hat" to you people who live in cities James, but to us in the "sticks" it is a big thing  Sad
Being a market 2 exchange, and with (TT scheduled to go live in Feb but never arrived  Cry) Tiscalli (no access) the only option other than BT this is the only way we are going to see more than "8Mb".
Having worked in Edinburgh and rolled out cable to the schools there ( up to 10M at the time ~8 years ago) and at the time being on dial up it saddened me to see the speeds rise all the time in the cities to the "privileged" ones who can get cable TV and fast broadband at a cost that we were paying for dial up it was the old 2 tear system again.  Cry

Re: OMG I nearly fell of my chair!

I think James was sighing at the fact that his exchange doesn't have any plans for this, rather than that your exchange does.

Re: OMG I nearly fell of my chair!

Several local exchanges (Broadstairs, Ramsgate, Thanet) are being upgraded just not mine Sad
Currently Market 1 serving less than 2200 residential and non-residential premises.
No 21CN either Sad

Re: OMG I nearly fell of my chair!

I am on the main exchange in my town with circa 15,000 premises a few miles from BT main research facility and it look like we be lucky to get fibre this decade.

Re: OMG I nearly fell of my chair!

Have to correct my last post above as I now have looked at the list and it seem that the majority of the exchanges are in East Anglia and mine is listed.

Re: OMG I nearly fell of my chair!

I live on the southern border of Plusnet City and our exchange is to be fibred no early than December 2011.
'No earlier than' probably means next year maybe Sad
