O2, O2, O2

Mobile network Three to buy O2 in £10bn deal
Hong Kong tycoon Li Ka-shing is set to become one of the biggest foreign investors in the UK when his Hutchison Whampoa conglomerate acquires the O2 network from its Spanish owner Telefónica.
Both parties declined to comment, but an announcement is expected on Friday morning.

Re: O2, O2, O2

So BT are buying EE and 3 are buying O2.
I can see prices rising. Wonder if the monopolies commission are looking into it?
Let's be careful out there !

I'm a bit lost here, we're Hutchison Whampoa in partnership with BAE as co-owners of Orange.
Does Li Ka-shing still have a hands on operating role in HWL, would have thought it would now be in the hands of Victor

The EU has already agreed mergers from 4 to 3 networks in other parts of Europe including Ireland so unlikely to be any issue in the takeover.
Guess for those that have no 3 or O2 signal it might be of benefit if netwoks merge but only time will tell.

Re: O2, O2, O2

just to clarify, Three UK are not buying O2.
it's Hutchison Whampoa that are potentially buying them.
