is what I call "customer service"
... and ...to plagerise a saying... Doing me proud !
Let me tell you a story... !
due to the way that Plusnet has moved away from the best customer service, to deliberately making it the worst.. i.e. removing the ticket facility... and recently removing Live Chat...
so that disabled customers, like me... hard of hearing/deaf or speech impaired.
are forced to use another archaic text service.
I have finally decided that "enough is enough"...
I have fought the fight, but the big guns have won.... I
For the past 4 weeks or so, I have been in contact with a new supplier.. they use Email, for their customer service... and what a joy it is...replies come back within an hour... ( sometimes even less)...
when I mentioned about Plusnet closing Live Chat...the person responded back to me,
"that is absolutely disgusting and possibly discriminating .... we are redoing our website at the moment, and when it is all done, there will be a Live Chat facility for customers."
so.. I have had a few queries, about minor points that I wanted clearing up.. and the emails have been flowing about 3 a week... great...
I bought another router, cos the one PN sends out is "locked" to PN.. and would not work...
(email advice when I queried the price of the new ISP`s router was to source one on Ebay...) ...
I have had a "welcome letter" emailed to me, with the settings, etc...
not being too sure which one`s I would need, I emailed again today.. and I got a reply with the exact requirements needed....
with a proviso....
" If you have any problems when we go live, you can text me on my personal mobile number 070xxxxxx ....and I will do my best to help get you going"..
so... it`s goodbye from me, to Plusnet..after twelve and a half years.... .
and Hello to my new provider as from the end of this month.
One who will be happy to help an old man with hearing difficulties ....
Nice one... Eh ? ?

@shutter Dare we ask who you’re moving to ? As you mention “Big guns” can we assume that’s BT ?

@Champnet "Big guns"..... aka Plusnet .... aka B.T.
Plusnet failed me, publicly lied to me, and many other disabled customers, when they gave up on the ticket system AND, more recently LIVE CHAT.
I suspect it is because of a directive from BT... who will, eventually, swallow you all up, like a whale eating crill....
so.. good luck to you all.

It's always been BTs plan - buy another big ISP and gradually sink it, absorb the customer base and carry on.
I'm just surprised it's taken them so long - over a decade now i think.

Sometimes BT have special offers on for new customers, depending where you are up to on your current contract it might be worth waiting for such offers and then go for it.
Better to go at your own time and getting one of these deals instead of waiting to be moved to BT once PN goes....
The writing is clearly on the wall.

@shutter Enjoy. I must admit I haven't looked back - just a shame my ISP doesn't have a forum that's lively! But strange to relate, while your mileage might vary, my speeds have increased by 8Mb. Same wiring, equipment etc, just different ISP.
Mind you, maybe its corona led. Maybe using the router more gives you better speeds!? I never thought I'd see the day when we'd be approaching nearly 1Tb downloaded in less than a month.
