Murdoch is a bit like our previous Prime Ministers (I don't think that the present one has done it yet) saying "He has my full support" just before sacking him  Crazy

Re: NotW - Last edition

Good riddance and lets hope that "the powers that be" stop Murdoch's attempt to take total control of BSkyB.

I thought my internet speed may be affected by web traffic, but not really.

I did run up a hefty download by watching SKY News on the SKY website for 20 minutes. approx 200mb

am not surprised

Me neither, I've been saying for the last week or two that it will probably be the end of them - there is no way they can continue running with a decline in sales and then advertisers pulling out. It was just a matter of time.
Now anyone wanna run a book on how long it will take for BT to fall?
I need a new signature... i'm bored of the old one!

Re: NotW - Last edition

I think it's just a ruse so that Murdoch can show what a good guy he is.
Very soon the NOTW will reappear as "The Sunday Sun". The only reason there hasn't been a Sunday edition of the Sun ( also a Murdoch paper) is it would have been in direct competition with the NOTW.

Re: NotW - Last edition

I for one won't miss the NOW, but according to BBC News at six, all staff are to be invited to apply for jobs elsewhere within News Corporation.  It was also suggested that Murdoch will start another Sunday paper but it would just be NOW under another name, peddling the same garbage, produced by the same muck rakers, managed by the same discredited management, in the hope that the gullible British Public won't notice.
Public sentiment seems to be that Murdoch and his News Corporation are not "fit and proper management" to take over the rest of BSkyB as he'd hoped, and It will be interesting to see if the Government has the courage to follow  public sentiment  or  pass the buck to OffCom.

I agree with Heloman, it won't be long before the Sun becomes a 7 day a week paper.

Re: NotW - Last edition

It has just been announced that earlier this week Murdoch registered a new company - The Sunday Sun. Looks like he;s had his plans drawn up for a while.
Another interesting twist is that as the NOTW no longer exists they can destroy all their records unless the DPP moves quickly with a court order to retain them.

Re: NotW - Last edition

Several years ago, i had the dubious honour of meeting  the Murdoch clan at a tt conference. I came away with the feeling, shared by many  who know him better than myself, that he is  4  steps ahead in the corporate game.
Closing the n.o.w is not plan b    , its plan d.
One q still bothers me  why is Rebekah being protected.  How much does she really know and what is her relationship with James M.

And the same will apply to any domain names that they might want to use in future.
It will have been covered years ago.  Wink
