Not the best way to ring in the New Year...

French woman trapped in Roubaix shop for new year
Quote
The 73-year-old woman felt faint at the store in Roubaix and went to the toilet. But when she came out later she found the shop deserted and locked up.
Quote
She had tried unsuccessfully to get some sleep in the Intermarche supermarket's staff office, and had not helped herself to any new year treats from the shelves.

Would you be tempted, bearing in mind the date, to have celebrated with a tipple or two from the wine shelf (leaving an IOU, of course) Cheesy
Just out of interest I thought New Year should always be capitalised?

It's not a small shop either, she could have slept on kitchen or toilet rolls, or a pile of towels etc.
As for not checking the toilets before they lock up, a Thief's Paradise.
Was there not a working phone in the office ?

French media say she set off the alarm repeatedly and spent the night wandering the aisles, but nobody came.

So security and the police had the night off, I know what shop is going to be hit by thieves in the future.

Its probably why banks don't provide customer toilets.
Experience; is something you gain, just after you needed it most.

When faced with two choices, simply toss a coin. It works not because it settles the question for you. But because in that brief moment while the coin is in the air. You suddenly know what you are hoping for.

Some banks did provide customer toilets in the UK years ago, but as far as I know the USA is one of the last to get rid of customer toilets in there banks.

@MC you are right.  My bank in the US has customer toilets.  They also provide free coffee to customers.

@artmo, Is the USA's councils closing down Public Toilets like the UK's councils are doing?

@MC in general there are no public toilets like we have here in the UK.  Most public buildings have toilets and  most, but not all, will allow the public to use them.
