Nokia SMS Tone

Well, I never knew that !!
The tones that you hear when an SMS Text message arrives on your old style Nokia phone........
are actually the letters SMS in Morse Code !!
... _ _ ...
How many times must I have heard this over the years !!

Re: Nokia SMS Tone

Where's the Morse Maestro when you need him !!
His valued input can only add to the discussion...  Cheesy

My Dad, who was also in the Navy, but during WWII, used his Morse knowledge a lot, by becoming a Radio Ham after the War.
He used to CW a lot, with others all over the World.
(I know there is a difference)
Quite apt really.... an ex Navy person who used to "Paddle" a lot !!

We did Morse Code training whilst at the BBC, but never used it.

Re: Nokia SMS Tone

I spent almost 20 years in the army and the only Morse code we were ever taught was the SoS signal, apparently there's no point knowing how to send /receive Morse code over the radio as its considered to be the same as clear speech which is a lot simpler to send /receive ......
a lot of the guys I worked with at the start all knew Morse code though from having been in groups like scouts where you could get a badge from being able to send and receive messages in Morse code (although in the last decade of service none of the youngsters seemed to have a clue what it was )
just because your paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you
