Re: No Survivors from Airliner Crash

Perhaps Boeing is the US equivalent of British banks, i.e. too big to be allowed to fail.  The only other major aircraft manufacturer in civil aviation that I can think of, is Airbus.

Re: No Survivors from Airliner Crash

A snippet from a long article in The New York Times:

Anonymous company insiders at Boeing now allege two safety features offered as options were not aboard the two crashed 737 MAX-8 aircraft. The upgrades include an angle of attack indicator and a disagreement light, which lights up when the angle of attack sensors report different data. One of those could soon become standard on future 737 MAX aircraft.

Re: No Survivors from Airliner Crash

I hope Ryanair aren't getting any ideas; they proposed to charge for the use of toilets, I wouldn't put it past them to sell flights on Max 8/9 aircraft at half price with no insurance.

Re: No Survivors from Airliner Crash

Boeing is retraining some pilots by simulating new software for the 737 Max

Re: No Survivors from Airliner Crash

A Southwest 737 Max had to return to the airport today when engine problems occurred just after takeoff. The aircraft was being moved to be stored.

Boeing admit their device was activated before the planes crashed.

Re: No Survivors from Airliner Crash

I wonder if they will ever find out why.

Remember that business with Toyota and 'unintended acceleration’ ? Not sure if they ever found our what the cause was.

The software is written by engineers of course, but even the engineers plugging in those codes must sometimes lose track of just how layered and complex it all is.

Re: No Survivors from Airliner Crash

@Minivanman   There was a story that Boeing had hosted over 200 pilots and government and flight safety execs to a launch of a "training and update to the software" symposium...

so , they may not know the exact reason why,...but they have ( hopefully ) found a cure.....

KISS (keep it simple and stupid) is a saying I heard once.

Please feel free to pass this back to Boeing. Wink
