No Smoke Without Fire?

It is reported that two more 'stars' of Coronation Street are being investigated by Police.  The investigation centres on reports they slept with girls aged between 10 and 12.

Officers are now expected to speak to hotel staff and look through CCTV footage - after interviewing the witness for a second time last Wednesday, the newspaper reported.

That also occurred to me.  I guess we will have to wait for the investigation to be completed.

Re: No Smoke Without Fire?

Why did the witness wait 5 years to report a crime which would have been child abuse? His excuse that he didn't want a fuss doesn't hold much water.
And why come forward now? Ker-Ching?

The second reason is more plausible. "He also moved in showbiz circles and was worried about losing work.’" Though it doesn't reflect well on showbiz circles if he thought that reporting a suspected crime would be seen as a bad thing.

When you think about it, although he's been found not guilty, it doesn't mean the alleged crimes didn't occur, it simply means that the state based on the evidence provided couldn't find him guilty.
Kind of harsh really isn't it because if he's innocent he's forever tarnished and if he wasn't he's got away and the victim suffers. Either way the law screws it up.

Re: No Smoke Without Fire?

I can't think of a better one. I guess it means sometimes the guilty are found innocent and visa versa.
