Re: No More Jazz

Many years ago I was a member of a local jazz club and he was a performer on a number of occasions.  Always a good evening when he was on the bill.

Re: No More Jazz

Yes, very sad. Saw him a few times live. Trad Jazz in all honesty was not my favourite form of music. But KB was less "way out" than some exponents of the art.
Didn't Acker Bilk appear with him at sometime? or was it a friendly rivalry.
Experience; is something you gain, just after you needed it most.

When faced with two choices, simply toss a coin. It works not because it settles the question for you. But because in that brief moment while the coin is in the air. You suddenly know what you are hoping for.

Re: No More Jazz

I think he and Acker Bilk only appeared together on special occasions.  I agree with your comments on some jazz being 'way out' and I am not keen on that either, as it appeared to be more for the artist than the audience.

Re: No More Jazz

Saw him at Llandudno Theatre  a couple of months ago with Chris Barber and Acker Bilk on the same bill,  (all three of them in their eighties).  I think the three of them toured the country.  A great show and he will be missed.
