Re: No F1 on BBC from next season - channel 4 instead

how long before legal challenges are lodged on behalf of companies like sky sports, bt sports, itv sports etc on the grounds there being diddled out of the advertising revenue again whilst the bbc is getting to use its commercial branch to steal their profits again .....

what on earth are you on about

the fact that other companies have a right to place bids for the rights to air the show if the incumbent holder has terminated their side of the bargain, and that clearly since the Beeb makes the announcement in tandem with appointing the new commercial holder of those rights without any bidding from external stakeholders.
that's not exactly kosher practice in business and often leads to third parties feeling hard done by and issuing legal proceedings primarily for being excluded from the discussions and thus prevented from making a bid for the rights .....

I'm not a big F1 fan but this is not good news. The BBC seems to be losing a lot of their sports events. I hope they keep Wimbledon. Despite the BBC signing through to 2020 anything is possible. I can think of other ways to save money if they really wanted to.

Bad news in my view but better than ITV - at least they are doing the live races without adverts.
I do hope C4 sign up David Coulthard and Eddy Jordan - they have made the recent years more enjoyable.
At least it wasn't just Sky which I totally refuse to buy  nothing to do with that mans company.

Re: No F1 on BBC from next season - channel 4 instead

Deeply saddened loved F1 on the Beeb ,, the only thing i purposely watched on BBC.
Too many loveies run the BeeB paying each other too much is  the reason why they in a bad state ,, losing Top Gear didn't help either  .

Agreed - sure C4 have a good motorsport journalist - which I expect they would want to use anyway

Maybe they will send a safety car out every 15 minutes for 4 minutes in order to run some adverts Lips are sealed
