No Contract Discounts Anymore For Broadband Only

I was disappointed to find out that Plusnet no longer offer any contract "discounts" for broadband only.
I was told this straight up after using the number on Jim's page.
I did expect to pay a little more than the offer given for line and broadband, which was plus a pound on top last time.
But a blunt no contract offers no thanks I did not expect.

Re: No Contract Discounts Anymore For Broadband Only

i suspect going thru to cancellations might result in an offer being produced.

Re: No Contract Discounts Anymore For Broadband Only

Yes I was.
But then, after all these years, I was deluded enough to think I was a valued customer.
I was first offered £4.99 a month which I accepted.
But then I was asked if I paid in advance for line rental.
Then the line went on hold bizarrely playing that old Human League favourite of "Don't You Want Me" - apparently not.
Then the offer I had accepted was withdrawn. The replacement line and broadband offer would have been twice what I'm paying now if I was mad enough to accept that.
I'm more than sure I can do better elsewhere..

Re: No Contract Discounts Anymore For Broadband Only

Tried the chatline as well and the obvious scripted answer was:- "I'm sorry about that but we cannot sell a service to someone without making a profit. This is against the Fair Competition Act and as such, can't offer any discounts on it."
Which is plainly daft and contradicts many customers previous years of deals.
And does that apply to free broadband offers? I had always thought that cross subsidising wasn't exactly fair in terms of any sort of competition.

All I can say is as I was told Plusnet make very little profit on £9.99 broadband they must be making a whacking great profit on line rental if they can afford to do free broadband deals.
