Next British Ambassador to Washington.

With Ambassador Kim Darroch was "not liked or well thought of within the US" according to Trump, what name would you put into the hat for a nice little earner in Washington, and why.

Ladbrokes have: 3/1 Anne Widdecombe, 5/1 Kate Hoey, 6/1 Raheem Kassam, 8/1 Piers Morgan, 10/1 Nigel Farage, 16/1 Weatherspoons guy, 66/1 Sadiq Khan and 250/1 Theresa May.

Re: Next British Ambassador to Washington.

If we ever leave the EU we shall need someone to be our ambassador to the EU, perhaps this outspoken guy might have been better suited to that position were he not to retire.

Washington and Moscow have to be the most important postings for our ambassadors, the less important postings could probably be handled by anyone with a liking for Ferrero Rocher.

The last person we need is a toady to a foreign nation, that is capable of electing a womanising, egoistic, idiot, is an obsequeous toady!

No one has to agree with my opinion, but in the time I have left a miracle would be nice.

Re: Next British Ambassador to Washington.

Well Kim Darroch has a bullet hole or two in his foot and his position is pretty untenable - whenever someone in politics ( in this case Theresa may ) says 'I have full confidence in our ambassador' (put any job title in there ) then the next thing you know they are gone..

How about Piers Morgan - he gets on well with Trump and could be in the job for at least 6-1/2  years ( when Trump gets re-elected until 2024 ).

Re: Next British Ambassador to Washington.

Until they find who leaked that information few would be safe in that job.

Whilst the assumption is that it is some civil servant who leaked it can anybody be that certain ?

With the right knowledge it seems that almost any information can be obtained or hacked as we have seen in recent times.

Well he's gone, so....

With Boris likely to be the next PM failing to back him last night, I don't see how he had any other option but to jump before he was pushed.

Re: Next British Ambassador to Washington.

Even emails on supposedly secure encoded government channels are open to hacking, don't know what Hill Clinton was thinking about having her own site when she was secretary of state.
