Why do they do this ?
___________________________________________________________________________________________
The British also owe a fifth of their genome to the Germans and French, and 9.2 per cent to Scandanavians

Can`t understand why people must use different calculation types in the same sentence/paragraph/report...
it should read 20% and 9.2% to give proper "balance" to the statement.
Plonkers.

Isn't this a bit pointless as it depends how far back you go.
And percentage wise isn't the reverse also true.

Interesting up to a point, but I had read that such data from ancestry.com is questionable at best, and even more so given that they have those DNA test products to sell. Cynical, or just not gullible?

Using DNA how far back can they go.?
I once read somewhere that we could all be traced to one of 5 family lines using DNA.
Not sure how accurate that is or the oldest a thing is that DNA can be accurately tested on ?
Anyone know ?

I seem to recall that DNA was used on Richard the Third.

I was chatting with wifey, and I was surprised how her ancestors had moved round the country, and that must be true of nearly everyone. We're all mongrels now, and it's only that some areas historically were more isolated that the mixes are as clear as they are. With greater and greater mobility in future years, an exercise like the subject here will be much harder
