New requirement from the TSA

To make an airline reservation (in the US) you now need to register
• Full Name (first, middle, and last name must match the government-issued photo ID you bring to the airport)
• Gender
• Date of Birth

when buying the ticket online. Comes into full effect 1/12/2009.
Notice a couple of US airlines I fly with on a regular basis offing to 'manage' my profile, just book online with userID.
Cannot workout if this is a security issue, a marketing ploy or some other reason

Re: New requirement from the TSA

That doesn't look out of the ordinary for booking a flight.
If you are travelling to the US you also have to register for this.
Electronic System for Travel Authorization
In addition to this, when you are checking in you will have fill out a form giving your details and, where you will be staying in the US. So make sure you have this info to hand when you check in.

Re: New requirement from the TSA

Booked a flight to Knock (West of Ireland) the other day with BMIBaby. First time I'd heard of API - Advance Passenger Information (address, passport number etc) - apparently a government requirement. If you don't do it online you have to be at the airport three hours before the flight, or pay £5.
This might well be old news - I haven't booked a flight since 12 months ago.
