I think that idea has been bounced about for decades, but nobody really put it into practice, though I do believe that VW has a sort-of vending machine system where you can buy a brand new car at the factory, and it gets picked out of a huge cylindrical stack and you can drive it away that day with zero miles or kilometres (depending on what measures it's set up for) on the clock...
