New Year's Resolutions for 2014

Topic.
Does anyone have any? Mine are to get a part time paid job (same one I've had for years) and possibly reapply for a P license to do driving lessons in an Automatic. biggest problem there is that the government don't give me enough benefit to be entitled to a free Motability car.
I also want a decent win on the Lottery, enough to buy a few bits I want, and set up a trust fund for my nephew and niece.

Re: New Year's Resolutions for 2014

Each New Year's Eve SWMBO and I write a list of resolutions for the coming year then seal them in envelopes to be opened the following New Year's Eve.
Usually we've only managed two or three of around 10 Cheesy

Re: New Year's Resolutions for 2014

For those who want to genuinely stop smoking, please do not do it alone, seek help and advice from places like Stop smoking wales
Stop smoking Wales helps ease the pressure that we face whilst giving up, and they have a dedicated support line if you feel like giving in
They helped me and I gave up smoking early December 2012 with their help and not looked back since.
Now 12 months later and not missing the horrible smelly cigs any-more  Smiley

Re: New Year's Resolutions for 2014

On the subject of New Year Resolutions......
Been there.... Done that....  failed.... not bothering anymore.... got the T-shirt... used it for cleaning a car !..
On the subject of stopping smoking....
I did it the hard way... took me about 3 years.... gradually reduced the daily number of ciggys burned.... started by not having one as soon as I got up... and made it later every day, before having the first one... used to smoke between 20 and 30 a day .... each week, I would try to ( and did ) reduce that daily number by at least ONE.... Eventually, I was down to 10 a week,... !.. then one Saturday morning, I did not have any left.... used to live way out in the sticks... no local shop... so just did not bother going to the shop that day... haven`t smoked since.  That was about 30 years ago...
It can be done... but needs a lot of self discipline... ( ... it was not a "new years resolution" decision to start stopping ! )...

Get the room recoated (started painting then stopped)
Unpack the rest of moving boxes from May 2013
Do the DIY stuff around the house that need doing
Get rid of the kids channels on Sky
All bits and bobs
oh and cut down a little on the beer on fridays.

Re: New Year's Resolutions for 2014

If there's a set of Channels I'd consider getting rid of on Sky it would be movies, seeing as I have most of the good stuff that's shown on either DVD or Blu Ray, and I go to the Cinema a lot anyway because I try to get the money's worth out of £15 for the Unlimited card.
I need the kids channels though, because I watch Loony Tunes, Tom and Jerry and The Flintstones.

That takes me back! Those cartoons were brilliant - I loved them as a kid!

Re: New Year's Resolutions for 2014

01) Move more VHS tapes on to DVD.
02) Move more DVD's on to HD's.
03) Get on with the DIY stuff  that needs doing in the flat.
04) Finish off building the prototype table out of VHS Tapes, I am hoping that thay will sell for £80 for the coffee tables on eBay.
