New Samsung mobile phone charger lead help required

I have just purchased a new Samsung mobile phone and the end of the charging lead which goes into the bottom of the phone is quite a lot wider than normal with two connections never seen one like it before

Is this because it's a fast charger what is the lead end called

Can this lead be used with a USB in a 13A wall socket

Re: New Samsung mobile phone charger lead help required

A picture would help but I suspect the wider connector is a USB-C micro connector (the wife's relatively new Samsung and my Moto phone have the same USB C ports). Maybe the charging lead, if it has 2 connectors, does old and new.

And yes, if you have a USB cable, plug it in to the USB socket. FWIW the phones tend to tell you if it will be charging quickly or charging slowly when you plug them in. Just takes longer if not quick.

Edit: To light up your day you could always get an LED charging cable, something like this, maybe

What Samsung phone model you got?

Just a thought, are both sides of that plug fixed or do they slide in independently?

It's quite an old phone - the USB end should be fine in a standard Mains/USB adaptor but not a Mains/USB Fast charge.

The end shown in the photo is of a USB3 cable.

I have one on my Maxtor external hard drive.

Re: New Samsung mobile phone charger lead help required

I briefly had an s5 with a lead like that. I could either use that lead which I found a bit clonky or simply just use a normal micro usb cable. Which obviously just used the one (correct) port on the phone.
