Re: New Apple products

As I've said a few times before I'm still waiting for a Star Trek communicator.Smiley

Then no more bills. Direct device to device communication.

But that would never do.Sad No money flow for business or government.

Though if such a device was ever made no doubt users would be required to purchase a BBC communications licence.Smiley

Actually, in the states, some cellphones have a walkie talkie mode for (almost) direct communication.

I've seen it used, very effective.

Though I think it actually uses a common carrier, but at no charge.

Re: New Apple products

Anyone remember Knight Rider when they were younger Cheesy

So you can now talk into your watch like Michael Knight. Grin

On a serious note it is strange that some of things that films have done which have predicted the future have come true.

Except for the utopian predictions of an ever earlier leisurely well supported retirement and a well paid short working week.

That and of course wearing a silver suit and living in outer space.Smiley

Re: New Apple products

Apple products are getting vastly overpriced now.

As much as I like them - and I can't pretend I don't since I have a iPhone and am typing this on a Mac, it is getting silly now.

They should call that model "The iPhone come and mug me edition".

Clearly some people have more money than sense, not hard to guess which generations are the biggest purchasers of these phones.

Why is it that some people have to have the latest gadget ?   Do they not realise that within a short space of time a more updated and costly version will be on sale ?

Re: New Apple products

I totally agree, @gleneagles. I admit to having an iPad, but it certainly isn't the latest & greatest, in fact the OS version is 9.3.5, and I can't update beyond that, but while ever it works, I'm not upgrading. My phone, however is a Nokia 130 dual-sim (2G), and again, while ever it works, will not be replaced. Personally, I find web surfing or any computing impossible on a phone, anyway. I can't be doing with such a small screen.

Re: New Apple products

I think it is the way of the world @gleneagles

Like most things, paying much for something can be worth it - or you're just paying more because you think it is worth it, and are you happy because you actually like it, or a means to justify to yourself why you paid that much money?

Designer clothes, expensive restaurants .. etc etc. The list can go on.
