I just thought id post about my experience with the NHS at the moment.
I saw my GP on the 30th Nov and told her that I was having problems swallowing food she said she would send me for an endoscopy. The next week I got a call from the Hospital to tell me they had booked me a covid test and an appointment for an endoscopy on the Friday. At the endoscopy they told me they had found a growth in my oesophagus and had taken a biopsy to check for cancer. They also said they would arrange a full body ct scan for me. This was done at the end of the week where I was told they had a department meeting on the tuesday. On the friday after I went to a meeting with the Consultant who told me the growth was cancerous but because of my other health problems it would not be operable, so I would probably have to have chemo and Radiation treatment. He also said I would need to go for a Pet Ctscan. This was last friday. Today I got a call with and appointment for my Pet Scan,
The NHS certainly can move fast when it wants to!!!

Let`s hope that you can get a second opinion, on the "operation" side of this... it would , I am sure, be much better for you than Chemo... but ... there again... I don`t know your personal medical state....
Either way.. as you say.. when they want to ... things can certainly get a move on...
Good luck with any treatment...

Hope things work out ok.
Glad to hear you got a fast service, different issue to yourself but a recent hospital stay, including scans, covid test, blood tests and consultation was done very rapidly and efficiently in fact far better than in normal times as I was seen within 5 minutes of all arranged appointments followed up by good phone communication from several departments following discharge.
Even the flu vaccine was far more efficient this time, local centre used and we were in and out within 5 minutes or less.

Good news to hear you had a consultation in quick time, sorry the news wasn't so good.
I hope 2021 is better for all than 2020 has been. Wishing you well @TTman

I have a repeat op in early Jan in a London hospital. They seem on top of things there but you never know the way things are going.
The only thing I don't like is the covid test. No not the test itself (yes I don't like it really) but just taking the test means a 160 miles round trip as some hospitals .................... well, I don't know why a local hospital won't do for the test but I have asked a few times and they won't budge on this.

@TTman Sorry to hear about your health problems. I hope everything goes well with your treatment. Keep us posted. It's good to hear the NHS is looking after you so well.
I booked a Covid test on Sunday, had it yesterday at 2pm and received my result this morning at 6am. The result was negative which was good to hear.

It is not much fun getting a positive test result for cancer. When I got mine they said did I want coinselling? I said no thank you just fix the damn problem!.
I do not know where you are being treated but I referred myself to The Christie Hospital, Manchester which is cancer specialist. They gave me choices I did not know existed and solved the problem with minimum invasion. The only downsides were that I could not ride a bicycle for thrree weeks and if I were to be run over by the proverbial bus within six months I would have to be disposed of at Sellafield as Hazardous Waste!! 🤔
Wishing you success and a speedy recovery!
