Murray Wins

Congratulations to Andy Murrray for winning the US Open Tennis Championship. It's the first time a British player has won a Grand Slam since Fred Perry 76 years ago. Cool Cool

Re: Murray Wins

Great victory for Andy.
Stayed up listening on 5Live (just can't give that nice M*****h family any money) until the start of the 4th set.
So many to choose from for SPOTY but I would plump for Ben Ainslie

Re: Murray Wins

With the year we're having who'd bet against Hamilton overtaking Alonso?

Re: Murray Wins

I think you know I meant on points to win the championship, but yes on track what you suggest is not beyond the realm of possibility!
I'd rather see Jenson win, but I think he's too far back.

Gary Linnaker on radio this morning said they will need a show lasting a few days instead of the usual 2-3 hours Smiley Smiley

Re: Murray Wins

Loved Connery's statement "He's not British, he's Scottish" - does that mean he has to give back his Olympic gold medal and exempt himself from British Sports Personality Of The Year?  Crazy
Major gratz to Murray though, I really thought he had bottled it hard in the 3rd set and was about to lose again, so for him to find the mental strength to come back and win is an amazing feat and I hope he continues to improve - next up, Murray for world #1 (and, dare we say it, Wimbledon 2013).

Re: Murray Wins

Connery, isn't he that American bloke who just likes the idea of Scotland and goes on holiday there sometimes? Smiley
Anyway it was only a matter of time until Murray won a major championship. Out of all our players he was the one with the grit and the bad temper.
Which seems to help in tennis.
