Murray Takes No.2 Position

Andy Murray has broken the 4 year dominance of Federer and Nadal by taking the number 2 position in World tennis. Smiley
He beat Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in Montreal to become No.2.  He plays Juan Martin del Potro in the final later today.

Re: Murray Takes No.2 Position

Murray leads in the head-to-head on the ATP and also on hard courts. However, del Potro won their last match in Madrid.  Smiley

There was a bit of a row between the 2 of them in Rome when Murray accused del Potro of being rude to his mother.

Re: Murray Takes No.2 Position

I guess he'll have his eyes trained on Federer now.  It should be an interesting US Open.  I had to delay my trip so will miss out on a visit to Flushing Meadow. Sad  I have tried to get there a number of times but never made it.

Re: Murray Takes No.2 Position

I think he'll struggle - he's beaten him a few times but not in the big competitions IIRC

Re: Murray Takes No.2 Position

Yes, he's done it before and he's in much better shape now than he was.

Re: Murray Takes No.2 Position

I think it'd be the psychological that holds him back rather than the physical.

Re: Murray Takes No.2 Position

Murray is 5-2 up in wins against Federer.  He will now be seeded 2 at Flushing Meadow so they won't be meeting until the final if everything goes to plan.  Could be a repeat of last year.  Interesting Tongue
