Muhammad Ali Dies

The boxer Muhammad Ali has died. He was a great boxer and entertainer. Also a great philanthropist. Sad news.

Re: Muhammad Ali Dies

Sad loss

I suppose what I really remember was listening on radio to our Henry putting him down in 1963 and hoping he'd stay down - he didn't

Re: Muhammad Ali Dies

Very sad, he was a great boxer and showman who did a lot for the sport.

As a young lad I remember staying up one night to listen to a radio commentary of a fight, went into the kitchen to make a brew only to return to hear he had won the fight, can't recall who he was fighting.

Re: Muhammad Ali Dies

Once he grew out of his racist views he was a funny and entertaining man who did a lot for boxing.

I suppose he might be able to R.I.P. now.

Re: Muhammad Ali Dies

A truly inspiring man.

I remember the Michael Parkinson interviews in the 70's and 80's. Wasn't there a whole Parkinson dedicated to him one Christmas/New Year ?

I'm hoping they are going to repeat the interviews with Parkinson. Both men at their bestSmiley

Re: Muhammad Ali Dies

We are all supposed to remember what we were doing when we heard that President Kennedy had been  assassinated.

Well I don't - but I do remember exactly what I was doing when the great Muhammad Ali was floored by  Henry Cooper in 1963.

I was having a few beers in an 'Aussie' pub in Earls Court and watching the fight on TV.

Ali, of course went on to win the fight, much to the Aussies' delight!

What a star!
