More Motoring News.

There has been a call from researchers to rename cyclists as "people who ride bikes" because the term "cyclist" is dehumanising Crazy2

The EU also plans vehicle speed limiters from 2022. Late to the party guys, I've had one of those since 1974 that kicks every time I drive over 30mph  - I call it "the wife."

'Researchers' @Minivanman ?  - more like individuals with small brains and much too much time on their hands. They need to get a proper job.

Any link?

As for the EU - just another reason , IMO, to leave the looney-bin.

Re: More Motoring News.

Similar technology has been around for years but the cynic in me thought it would never be implemented due to upsetting the motorist and big revenue loss. Because the directive is coming from the EU we cannot blame our Government.

"Perhaps we should rename, "Motorist'"

Easy peasy, in our house that would be "chauffeur" Wink

As a member of the EU (well currently anyway) we should blame ourselves... unless of course we voted against it or we implement it after Brexit. My guess is we will either way and to be honest, perhaps it's no bad thing?

Yes, I saw that one too, very interesting.  After following your link I've installed the 'what3words' app on my phone, never know when it might be useful!

I tried inputting some of the resultant 3 word locations into Google maps but they're not recognised - yet - but no doubt that'll be possible soon.

Edit: typo

Re: More Motoring News.

I do wonder whether the speed limiter is really about safety or more about keeping track of all drivers through the onboard gps.

Re: More Motoring News.

@billnotben

Has to be about safety I'd have thought and I doubt if a GPS gizmo would have any trouble with keeping track whatever speed you were doing.

My own car is getting on a bit, but do they now have some sort of warning system whereby if you are driving to close to the car in front and alarm sounds? Now that would be cool, if some sort of automation could slow the car down when it gets to close to the one in front when driving at a certain speed as I really do detest those tailgaters. Knuppel

Ever noticed that the bigger the beast the closer the drive? I have.
