Re: Miracles do happen, this girl was very very lucky

15ft isn't really that high in the grand scheme of things - a first floor window is probably about the same height.
What would be the issue here is the force she was flung at and the speed that she impacted the ground at.
Whatever happened I suspect she'll be in touch the PI lawyers for a big payout lol.

Apparently she landed on her head & neck
Quote
The teenager, who lives in Worthing, landed on her head and neck after being thrown from the fairground ride

Which is not the same as jumping 15ft & landing on your feet

I'm not saying that she won't of suffered but it isn't the same as falling off a cliff is it.
Yes given that she apparently landed on her head she is very lucky.

If she was 'flung' the forward motion would negate a lot of the gravitational force. Much the same as a ski-jumper. They fall a long way on their jump, and though the slope eases the impact, the forward motion makes the impact 'glancing'.A good example is Evil kneivel and his bike jumps.
Not taking away the fact she was very lucky though.

Re: Miracles do happen, this girl was very very lucky

its not the fall that does the damage anyway its the failure to bounce that causes the injuries........
all the people who survive what should be life ending falls are seen to bounce, when a friend of mine tripped over a kerb he didn't bounce and broke his neck (although he wasn't paying attention at the time) another acquaintance fell from the second floor balcony, bounced sideways off his head and suffered only a sprained neck muscle ......

some people are most certainly luckier than others

Luck has nothing to do with it.
It's pure skill.
