Millennium trilogy - Stieg Larsson - Question

We've just had a house guest who left behind "the Millennium trilogy", (a good yarn).
In the books is detailed a process Stieg Larsson explains as something called a "Hostile Takeover" of a target PC.
Where the Hard disk of the target PC is initially piece by piece replicated onto a cloud somewhere (the owner of the target PC being unaware this has happened).
Thence forth the Owner of the Target PC 'logs into the cloud' rather than his local hard disk allowing the hackers to modify data with the owner being offline.
Does anyone think this is possible? or is it just a nice bit of fiction.

Re: Millennium trilogy - Stieg Larsson - Question

Given the fact they were all MAC's  Roll eyes and the size of the hdd's being transferred (according to the boos anyway) they must all have had 100Mb uplinks  Grin
If you have ever tried uploading even 100Mb to a cloud server you will know it takes AGES - and these were performed in REAL TIME - without the user noticing  Lips are sealed
Nice yarn but take it with a pinch (large) of salt.
