Might need a new box..

Hi all
I'm not normally one to ask daft questions like this but this time I fear I may need your help. My current PC has served me very well since finding it at a bargain price just over a year ago. It's 2GHz AMD, 2GB DDR3, 320GB HDD and came with a LCD monitor, KB, mouse, Win7 all for less than £100 from ASDA (Yes I am serious and yes I have a receipt!). To be frank, it was the deal of the century and that really was "ASDA price"  Wink
Now for certain reasons, I may be in need of a more powerful machine soon. So far the spec sheet I've been given matches the ram and I've plenty of HDD space but the proccy is a minimum of 3GHz  Roll eyes Now to be honest, I'd rather not disturb the current machines internals. I've got plenty of experience with PC hardware but I really can't be bothered tinkering and dealing with processor upgrades (if its possible with this machine) etc. To be honest I'd rather just start again with another tower. That and for the price of another processor I'm probably half way towards the cost of another tower anyway.
The problem? Finding one at a reasonable price. I've hit ebay only to find about a billion different pages of computers and most are refurbished. While I don't mind that they tend to be noisy old hoovers that would give concord a run for its money with noise output.
So, anyone know of any good suppliers of QUIET powerful towers at a good price? I don't need a monitor / KB / mouse just a tower but i need something ultra quiet!
I need a new signature... i'm bored of the old one!

Re: Might need a new box..

I used to recommend pcspecialist.co.uk, usually I would buy a tower/motherboard/cpu/ram I could add to, currently on my 3rd pc tower from them.
But my current pc's motherboard died, which was just under warranty and they ran it out and gave me a MB replacement which I didn't find out until recently has 2 dead dimm slots after trying to add a further 4 gig of ram.

You could try www.novatech.co.uk. Their prices are usually competitive and they keep a big range of stuff. I've bought from them several times over the past two or three years and never had any problems.
If you already have a case and other bits, their 'motherboard bundles' are quite good value and mean that you don't have to mess around making sure you get compatible processors and memory. The motherboard bundles are assembled and tested by Novatech before they put them into their stock.
And, best of all, (for me anyway,) if you are within driving distance of one of their retail outlets you don't have to wait in for a courier either.
