Yes I know it might not be as merry as usual and I'm "forced" to make this post which is something I usually leave to others but what the hell.
Merry Christmas to one and all on this jolly forum.
Good so far.......Found a Christmas pud at the back of my cupboard. Says it's a deluxe nine months matured pudding. Guess that's one year and nine months now.
The bad so far......All the shops are sold out of my favourite Christmas treat (apart from the booze) KP Cheese Footballs. Though there are plenty on ebay. Four packs £29.95 or eight for £44.95 (75p when in the shops).

My take on Christmas may seem a tad cynical...
Seasonal Reflections
Christmas is upon us once again
As subtle as a clanging fire-engine
A wondrous double-sided magnifying mirror
Sure to splinter with the strains of Auld Lang Syne
Reflected is great hope, and deep despair
So hard to be neutral at this season
Goodwill is pouring out with high emotion
Twelve month’s worth in so few festive days
Peculiar pressures paralyse relationships
Many more though will be formed
So much joy and giving and communication
Can we save a little for July?
Today the country will be closing down
Commerce will be comatose
Society slumbers all through Saturnalia
Drifting, slowly, to another year
...but I've had a couple of whiskies, so
Merry Christmas and a Great New Year to all our readers and contributors - thanks for all the info, the banter and the laughs in this otherwise terrible year.
It can only get better - can't it? 🤔 😊

Well how was everyone's Christmas dinners?
Mine was a bit disappointing. I bought one of those "ready" thingies from Lidl's. Supposed to be one of their better efforts. Turkey with stuffing wrapped in bacon supposedly enough for six. Six what I'm not so sure. Cooked it and it looked great but........... when the bacon was peeled off there was no turkey revealed. Instead it was a half inch thick slab of fat and of course when you remove that the actual amount of turkey left is considerably reduced. So I concluded that while the ingredients do include pork it's a bit disingenuous as most would assume they just mean the bacon rashers.
My pudding was in a small box but I had thought probably still big enough to cut in two. But when I opened the box the pud was in a small bowl made even smaller by the half inch rim on the bottom. It was tasty enough but I couldn't help think that in my younger days I would have probably picked the whole thing up with a spoon and ate in a couple of bites.
Still I had dinner over my brothers the next day and that was a proper good home cooked meal made all the better when someone else is cooking it. And he also had cheese footballs though they had gone "new coke" and didn't taste anywhere near as good as previous years.
So all in all bah humbug.😊
The wandering cat here really enjoyed the slab of fat so it was a claws up positive from him.

@billnotben Mine was a bit better than anticipated.Thought it was going to be my M&S Xmas dinner for one, but had a late invite from my sister, so it was a proper cooked dinner, although as we don't 'do' Christmas, it wasn't the full thing, but a nice turkey crown and fresh(ish) veg and a home-made large chocolate mousse with fresh cream and fruit for afters - I was pleasantly full afterwards.

That's the thing with most meals. They always seem to taste better when someone else does the cooking.
And I've always enjoyed watching other people work.😀
