Medals - day by day comparison

Found this on the Guardians website
http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/datablog/interactive/2012/aug/02/london-olympic-medals-2008-2012-com...
After Day 5, Team GB are actually ahead in medal terms from the same position in Beijing.

Re: Medals - day by day comparison

assuming that all medal events were held on the same day in Beijing?
otherwise it's a meaningless statistic.

I don't care how many golds we get, I just care that we've got some Smiley
It would be rather embarrassing if we hosted the games and won nothing.
I need a new signature... i'm bored of the old one!

I can unashamedly admit to be close to running out of tear juice.
I just love to see people deservedly win something and when it's the pinnacle of their athletic career, all the better  Smiley

Agree with you there Strat.  We have something to be proud of Cool
This afternoon I watched one of the best tennis matches I've seen for ages and in front of a full Centre Court.  Federer beat del Potro in a nail-biting 19-17 third set.

As someone said on TV the other day its not so much  how many medals we get that matters it's whether we get more than the French! (they may have a different view now that Team GB is 3rd in the medals table - as well as being ahead of the French)

Not sure I understand this medal business:-
Quote
Tthe men's four of Andy Triggs Hodge, Pete Reed, Andy Gregory and Tom James led from the start to win gold.

Do they get one each, or do they share the medal?
If they get one each how come it only counts as one?.
I would have thought the medal tally should reflect on the number of medals given out. Undecided

If only Cool
There is one medal for the event and they all get a replica of it.

It would be unpatriotic to disagree with that!
