Re: Mattress cover - I need your help

Plenty of options if you search for "double incontinence mattress protector" in Google.  I assume that you need to go out and buy one rather than mail order?  Do have any kind shops nearby that specialise in living aids?

Re: Mattress cover - I need your help

argosdo them
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/1275542.htm
if you have a store near you and there in stock, noisy but effective, iirc there are better quality ones available but they cost a fair bit more and you need more than one (because the top layer is a cotton material for noise suppression)
if you can handle the rustle effect though the argos ones are god value for money (I suffer periodically so we use them all the time with a blanket on top of it for noise suppression)
just because your paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you

The hospital should also be able to give you some pads too. Granted they're not that big but they should be able to supply some basics. Be sure to ask them on discharge day.

Re: Mattress cover - I need your help

Doesn't your Occupational Therapist supply them? We got some when my old Mum was ill years ago. They were breathable so's not to cause bed-sores through sweat, and were machine washable.

Re: Mattress cover - I need your help

Also bearing in mind your lass has had a catheta, you might want to find out if she is sore etc. Cathetas can cause damage in the male urethra and physically rip it causing loss of blood and severe soreness etc. I can't comment on women but I can only imagine the same might apply.
The hospitals when inserting a catheta use a lubricant that is sterile and contains a mild local anaesthetic and also antiseptic. The anaesthetic side of it is useful as it can be self injected to control the soreness / pain. I've no idea if women suffer from this problem but it's quite common for men who've had a catheta.
The lubricant is mainly known as two brands - instillagel or optilube. You might want to ask the nurses for some just in case. Many hospitals will hand it out free to their patients but it costs money if you get it on prescription.

I don't think angelas health problems are work related. AFAIK it's the NHS that are treating her. Occupational health / therapy is just that - to do with your occupation.

So make sure you get some supplies of Optilube / Instillagel from the nurses for her.

Not the case - See this job description for the NHS OT role...
