Marmite

We all Love Marmite !!

Used to buy it from Tesco, but our local Tesco stopped stocking it a while back, in the large size.

We found another source in Asda !!

In light of the Tesco/Unilever/Marmite problems at the moment, we've just ordered 12 large jars from ASDA Click & Collect.

We last did this in 2014, the previous order still on the website.

Re: Marmite

I really dont care about most of these big brands, most of them are often too expensive anyways. Theres many cheaper brands around these days that do just the same job.

It's just one of those acquired tastes like Guinness and loud women.

@Infinity.   How the hell are you going to get through that much before it goes manky, or doesn't it support life?

Re: Marmite

Talking of Marmite reminds me I should buy some grease bands for my apple trees to trap any moths climbing the trunk.

Now Zen, but a +Net residue.

http://order-order.com/2016/10/13/marmite-100-british-sourced-produced/#disqus_thread

So Unilever who supported Remain want to put their prices up 10% "because of Brexit" but the product is 100% British so no foreign content. Also Unilever do their purchasing through Swizerland thus avoiding EU tax.  They were pro Remain because it would have ruined their tax avoidance!

Re: Marmite

I neither love or hate the stuff, so how about take it or leave it?

Not sure why we have to be in either one camp or the other but having said that, I've not had for years..... so I guess makes me a 'leave it'.  Mrs Minivanman always has some in the pantry but that's only for the odd dollop in beef gravy or whatever.

I know where I am, I've been lost here before.

Re: Marmite

This is what Unilever says about that.

Unilever on Thursday published a chart showing that commodity prices have gone up sharply since January. As a result, the ingredients for food products and packaging costs — for materials such as aluminium — are higher. In addition, these commodities are priced in dollars so, since the pound has weakened following the UK’s vote to leave the EU in June the costs of selling in the UK have gone up significantly for Unilever. Its profit margins will fall unless it raises prices now.
