Re: Map Info Please

I run "Google Earth" V5.1.3533.1731, and that shows the location and magnitude of earthquakes - with a round red symbol with like a picture of a heartbeat across it.
I don't know whether a specific 'layer' needs to be enabled,  but is astonishing just how many earthquakes are shown around Japan !

Re: Map Info Please

There are probably several ways of doing this, as Purleigh mentions utilize Google Earth, but create your own Event layer from an RSS feed.
Or you could try and run something like GRASS  (http://grass.fbk.eu/ - open source GIS software) and import an RSS  (Example http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/catalogs/eqs7day-M2.5.xml) and create your own maps. Then refresh the maps as required. The RSS mentioned above is a rolling 7 day > M 2.5 list. There are other lists in USGS catalogue, although you may need to go through something like Excel first.
The RSS feeds have the earthquake data, they can be displayed and refreshed in tabular form (coordinates, depth, Magnitude, links, description etc) utilizing something like Excel.
edit:- create your own google earth Event layer from an RSS feed.
a) save the rss/Excel spread sheet as a csv file
b) use the utility csv2kml (http://www.tchartdev.com/csv2kml.htm) to convert the rss spreadsheet to a KML file
c) open the kml file from google earth you can show all the rss events and details by clicking on each event in turn
