The last search exercise is about to take place for the lost aircraft..
The effort has now been taken up by high-definition satellite searches looking for debris and working back from there using ocean drift models. A guy called Mike Chillit (real?) has been trawling through pics and has found some interesting items.. he's posting on twitter at regular intervals. Seems to have concluded that the sidescan sonar search has been in the wrong place. Interesting reading if you can be bothered to go through it...
And typical debris find near Mauritius..
I just don't understand how this plane got lost and why it's such a mystery, I thought the Yanks gods bless 'em had the planet covered with their spy satellites.
"Things are getting strange, I'm starting to worry / This could be a case for mulder and scully"
One has to wonder why the Malaysian airforce failed to react to an unidentified aircraft flying across their entire country in the middle of the night. I've tried to watch all the TV documentaries about this case, but they just mention this change of direction without giving any explanation of the failure to react to it.
Probably for the same reason that the Vietnamese AT controllers were "on the ball" as well (first they had had contact with the aircraft, then they hadn't, then they didn't know, then silence!), they were all
asleep having a well earned break! It was dark don't forget.
Modern technology is only as good as the people who drive it.
