Re: MEP Elections - has anyone received any electioneering material

I've had generic leaflets from Tories, loonyLabour and UKIP.
But the were through the post, nothing from local candidates at all.
On my postal vote there were 11 parties to choose from so was pretty clueless what most of them stood for.

Re: MEP Elections - has anyone received any electioneering material

Only three pamphlets have arrived here. In alphabetical order:  BNP, Conservatives and Labour.
Been to poll and there were about a dozen parties on the ballot form. Half of them, I had never heard of, let alone know anything about them or their policies.
How on earth are they expecting to get any votes, if they are completely unknown to the ordinary voter?

You vote for the party in EU elections not the individual candidates.  I didn't receive any info from the parties but it has been widely covered on radio so I knew what was going on.
Voted this morning.

Re: MEP Elections - has anyone received any electioneering material

I had very informative leaflet from Labour about candidates - weeks and weeks ago!
But others have just been in last few days for Conservatives, UKIP, and Green Party.
I have also been to vote [I took Holly with me!]  and seen a long list  - so went for what I normally go for anyway.  Would not know what half of the others stood for!

I was quite surprised as to who was standing - Arthur Skargill's Socialist Labour party - and this is in the South West

I was surprised at the number of parties on the ballot paper also.  Like you there were some that I'd never heard of.  How can a fringe party stand a chance of getting in if they don't talk to people.

Re: MEP Elections - has anyone received any electioneering material

We have County Council elections as well. Lots of information from Liberal Democrats and Greens, quite a bit from the Conservatives, something from UKIP. Nothing from Labour, but then in this part of Sussex in the last County Council elections the LD had half the number of votes as the Conservatives and Labour had half the number of votes as the LD - so I guess they figure it's wasted effort.
If you go to http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/8040446.stm you can see the parties in your area before you are given the 3ft long piece of paper in the polling station!

Re: MEP Elections - has anyone received any electioneering material

As I have never missed an election in my life - I believe that you have to vote if you can complain at all - I stopped off at the polloing staion on the way home, and the only party here that even had a banner outside was in alphabetical order -  Conservative, Green & Scottish National Party.
There were about a dozen parties and one independent on the poll form.
The staff said everyone has been complaining about no information. Utterly appalling situation in my view. Do these people believe in democracy ?.
No council elections here today by the way. Last time we had council was the same day as Scottish parliament elections and lots of misunderstandings and spoilt papers.
