The final section was opened by Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in October 1986 to a huge fanfare. It has gone on to change many things, including our economy, environment and living habits.

I used to think it might have been quicker to come off the end of the M1 and go straight through central London to Crawley, my destination than crawl round the Heathrow side of the M25 at 7am mid week.
Not a big fan.

Better having it to not having it.
Before the M25 going through the centre of London was often quicker but I would not say that's the case now.

Somebody told me the Chris Rea 1989 Album Track (Road to h....) was about the M25, never was sure.
