Re: LowCost Holiday group go into liquidation ..

Other causes could be mismanagement of finances, offering services they couldn't afford, people seeing "LowCost" as poor quality and buying elsewhere, etc., it's like the old saying, only a poor workman blames his tools... Smiley

But Brexit hasn't even begun, we've had the vote and decided that, as a nation overall, that's what we want, this has been followed by political changes to our leadership and the beginnings of talks with other countries.  Scaremongering caused 'blips' on foreign exchange and the stockmarkets but to blame Brexit for anything at this stage is quite laughable.

Re: LowCost Holiday group go into liquidation ..

I would imagine that the Euro was responsible for the demise of more than a few holiday companies and it was certainly the end of any real "Low Cost" holiday.

Re: LowCost Holiday group go into liquidation ..

As I understand it, they were not members of ATOL, so to some extent those who bought from them could be thought foolish be it through ignorance or unwillingness to pay more, a sort of reverse rip-off, maybe?! If those of the latter category have insurance that does not cover their losses, they know whom to blame. Don't they?

I also understand that the company had not paid the hotels. TBH it doesn't feel like the group were honest traders.

Our neighbours Haven Holidays Filey are open for business and there's no foreign exchange risk.

I assume most of the travellers will have paid with plastic so should be able to claim back from their card company.

Re: LowCost Holiday group go into liquidation ..

An assumption, but can we really make it? Could a cheapie outfit perhaps be attractive to those who for what ever reason choose or are obliged to pay by other means?

They were mainly an internet operation so a card would be n needed for payment.

credit card usually incur an extra fee, debit cards don't - so an assumption I wouldn't readily make.
