LoveLetter worm (ILOVEYOU) spread across the world 16 years ago causing $5.5 in damage

Quite interesting if you owned a Windows based computer in the year 2000 that was connected to dialup. The ILOVEYOU virus spread on the 4th of May 2000 (16 years ago yesterday) and was so destructive that it cost an estimated $5.5 billion in damages to computers across the world. Here is a video that explains what it did.

It's amusingly simple compared to today's ransomware viruses, though back then it was being compared to viruses that weren't really viruses from 10-20 years prior, just nuisances that interrupted your work that may have deleted stuff, but that was about it...

Still, just proves that just because someone says "I love you", it's best to take it with a pinch of salt...
