Lost something insignificant but can't think what's it called

O the joys of old age! My memory is morphing in to a forgettery. Things like looking for specs, when they.re on your nose are cropping up. For example one particular thing is bugging me; I can't think what something was called.

My smartphone is a basic Samsung model, and I bought a cheap case with a little whatsit to aid typing to the keyboard, and I can't think what it is called, nor if I can get a replacement.

Do any of you enjoy  a developing forgettery? And just BTW do you know what that whatsit maybe?

No one has to agree with my opinion, but in the time I have left a miracle would be nice.

Been a few times recently where I have searched my glasses which have been on my nose. Saddest thing is I am blind without them.

Yep that whatsit is a thingamabob. It's used with your oojamaflip.

Re: Lost something insignificant but can't think what's it called

My memory has developed selective blocks against various words or terms.

I have spoken frequently in the last couple of weeks about 'Powerline Adaptors' but every time my conversation arrives at the term 'Powerline Adaptor' it's not there, so something like 'mains network device' has to replace it.

I've tried picking one up, staring at it and repeating "Powerline Adaptor" over and over (In the privacy of my home) but it won't stick.

Stylus

Comes in several forms, from a thin stick like object with a rubber end

One of mine is like a hard triangular guitar plectrum, very precise.

TBH, I just press with my finger slightly offset to the character I wish to type.

And of course "voice recognition" which works to varying degrees on different phones.

On forgetting things, I write it down immediately if I have a thought, though if I don't it usually comes back to me later on !!

Thanks!

.....but can you remember where you wrote it down, then recall where you put the thing you wrote it on?

Re: Lost something insignificant but can't think what's it called

@Luzernas it was over 3 hourse ago, that you posed the question, you have probably forgotten what tha question was... well here is your answer..

I call it a "dobber"... but I think the "official term" is "Stylus"   so I went to Ebay and put inb Replace ment Stylus for Iphone.. and came up with this page..

http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xreplacement+styl...

Which also mentions "Samsung"....  hope that makes life easier for you...

p.s.  buy two... so if you lose one, you still have a spare at home ...

Capacitive touch stylus, as opposed to a resistive touch stylus which hasn't got the rubber doodad on the end... Smiley

Not too bad, if you have a stair lift, though.... means you get to ride it more often ! ..Smiley

If no stair lift.... put it down to a cost effective way of exercising, and not having to pay for Gym Fees ! !  Cheesy

Re: Lost something insignificant but can't think what's it called

Might of posted something like this before...but I can't remember!!

I occasionally jump in my car to drive a regular route, and about a mile or two later probably stopped at a junction or lights, for the life of I can't remember how I got there.

I suspect (hope, actually) its not too much to do with memory, more to do with familiarity.

Experience; is something you gain, just after you needed it most.

When faced with two choices, simply toss a coin. It works not because it settles the question for you. But because in that brief moment while the coin is in the air. You suddenly know what you are hoping for.
