The article seems to suggest that methane was the bigger issue but watching BBC Countryfile the other day, it was said (and shown) that more came out of the front end than the back. Having said that, it's certainly more palatable than using human waste as they do in Japan!
Don't limit the friends you haven't met with arguments you'll never have.

I remember when I was active in this field (no pun intended) that an Indian university team wanted to show their green credentials by collecting cow poo and providing bottled gas to the masses. Until it was pointed out to them that Indian women had been doing recycling for generations and the standard cooking method in Indian villages was by drying and burning cow pats. Far more efficient overall than the modern industrialised solution.
