Re: London... Now & Then

When these films were taken London was a the greatest city on the planet. And still is IMHO.
But I think the greatest achievements of London are Bazalgett's sewage system and the Underground  Smiley

A brilliant and haunting video - thanks for sharing it PlusComUK.
It's amazing how much of old London still remains if you know where to look.
I'm proud of my London origins - Bermondsey and Rotherhithe and, yes I know that many years ago both districts were in Surrey.

We were neighbours, then Wink
I used to live a few hundred yards to one of the entry points to the old Millwall football ground. Saturdays were mayhem with windows frequently being boarded up!  We moved out in 1968.
@PlusComUK. I love these sort of videos... and photos, too. Thanks for posting.
I am often searching for old photos of where I was brought up as well as other places I or my family have lived. I find it fascinating.

Near neighbours Mav - my grandparents originated in Bermondsey and Rotherhithe but I spent my first 20 years in New Cross.
From our house at the top end of Waller Road we could hear the cheers when Millwall scored!
