Little things that run round your garage?

I went in my garage just before lunch so as to do some gardening. Something little and brown streaked in and disappeared behind some old carpet.  I got the brush and tapped carpet and this thing streaked again across the floor.  Now I think it may be a mouse but am not sure [could not see a tail!].
I am not sure if it streaked back out whilst I was trying to find it - has anyone any suggestions about what I do in case it is still there?

put down a little trail of food leading to the outside.  nuts, bits of bread, biscuits, that sort of thing should encourage it.

Wear trousers and use bicycle clips.

Re: Little things that run round your garage?

Don`t go in the garage to do gardening...... try doing it in the garden ! Grin Cheesy Grin

To extract said beasty, you can get "friendly traps" that the mouse/roden/dinosaur enters, and the door shuts behind it...... you then carry it outside, preferably 2 or 3 miles, and let it go.... Smiley
Alternatively, you can get the french version, which decapitates the wee beasty, as soon as it tries to steal the cheese! Shocked

A trail of food from the garage to the outside also leads from the outside to the garage. This suggestion may worsen the problem.

Re: Little things that run round your garage?

My cat is a serial mouser, unfortunately she occasionally brings them home, not always dead...so we have a couple of strategically  placed traps. It's a fallacy that mice like cheese, they don't, bait with toffee, they can't resist it.
Experience; is something you gain, just after you needed it most.

When faced with two choices, simply toss a coin. It works not because it settles the question for you. But because in that brief moment while the coin is in the air. You suddenly know what you are hoping for.

Peanut butter works quite well as well. I can vouch for the humane traps.
Hmmm, peanut butter... now thinking of raiding the cupboard.

Not sure how bicycle clips will help me get rid of the little pest!
ps I keep gardening tools in garage, so have to go in there before doing any gardening in the garden outside. Crazy

Josie,
The bicycle clips are just to make you feel safe when you're tackling the monster.

Josie,
Let us know when you see that mousie on your bike. Get a picture if you can.

Another thought,
it may not be a mouse, are there any reports of an escaped crocodile?
Or even an elephant?

I've caught a mouse today. I've extracted it from the trap and removed the head. It is now skewered and tenderising in a marinade of spices. Anyone coming to the barbecue is advised to bring their own rolls and lots of salad.
