Life is different now

When I was three years old I was living in a British Army camp in Germany, it was not so long after World War II. I used to ride a kiddy trike in the road outside the house. No TV, no phones. I could speak in English and quite a lot of German too.
During last weekend I received a phone call on my mobile phone. It was from my Granddaughter. She was using Skype unaided on her tablet computer. She's not yet three years old but knew she could call me through the tablet.
Life is so different..

So different, and not always for the better.
As for the technology advances, kids just accept it and get on with it now as they see their parents, teachers and peer group using this technology daily. A firm of collective intelligence.

Don't let them see you open a Cmd window as my 8 year old grandson did.
He was on the verge of attempting a reformat of the C: drive before I stopped him and explained a few things.

Re: Life is different now

my youngest watched me for a few hours tweaking a few design plans some years ago, he then telneted into my machine copied the files and added colours ...... teach me for doing things like that from his machine when I needed the admin account to tweak the routing table to add his pc to the printer share and I couldn't be bothered to walk all the way downstairs when a few keystrokes would sort it .....
his rendering wasn't too bad and luckily he had copied the originals rather than using them but I got a shock when coming out of the shower I found something that shouldn't have been there on the printer in a more finished fashion than I would have done ......
