Re: Lengthy Backup

That usually happens when there is a problem with the drive.
I had to do a scandisk with the full fix options and a reboot to sort it

Re: Lengthy Backup

It shows that when I maximise it from the system tray.
After about 15 seconds it refreshes to show around 3 hours.
Currently transferring to the NAS drive at around 60Mbs.

Re: Lengthy Backup

The routers that Plusnet hand out can only transmit at 10Mbps per wired port.
You will be very lucky to achieve rates of 500KBytes/sec unless the data is highly compressed.

Care to revise that and put the zero back that's missing? Smiley

Re: Lengthy Backup

Oops - sorry  - that should be 100Mbps - so you might get 5MBytes per second over your network.
Still sluggish though.
Can I have a gigabit router please?

Re: Lengthy Backup

Amazon are selling a Billion for £120!!!
But it has an extra ADSL connection which wouldn't get used.
Perhaps I should get a cheap 5 port Gigabit switch feeding my 100Mbit router (for internet/firewall/NAT/DHCP/wireless) purposes?
(cost - less than £15)
Clearly the cost of a fast port isn't in the hardware.
