Landline phone prices review launched by Ofcom

Surprisingly the cost and confusion of those price bundles has not raised any heads at Ofcom but thankfully, those price hikes and other unfair marketing by the big boys has. As always it's those at the lower end of society that suffer disproportionately so how about it Plusnet, take the lead and give pensioners and those on benefit not just a freeze on prices but a much lower "landline only" charge because those recent increases over the past six years as reported here are beyond the pale.

Short and curlies anyone?

Re: Landline phone prices review launched by Ofcom

A couple of years back BT was offering a deal for customers without internet. It featured line rental + Anytime Calls + Caller Display for a fixed price of £19.99 per month for 3(?) years. I signed my Mum up. It has proved a good choice and still has several months to run. As others have pointeed out why should people who have no need for internet subsidise those who do through high line rental charges?

Aye, a good scheme. I signed up my father earlier this year. £21.99 pcm guaranteed not to increase before 2019.

Which of course exactly what is happening alanf and sorry, but that £19.99 package does not sound like a good deal to me.

Jonathan Oxley, Ofcom's competition group director, said: "Our evidence shows that landline providers have been raising the price of line rental, even as their costs have been coming down. !!!
