Labour hold Olham with enhanced Majority

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-12187965
Labour have comfortably won the Oldham East and Saddleworth by-election with a majority of more than 3,500.
Debbie Abrahams held off the challenge of Lib Dem Elwyn Watkins, while the Conservatives' vote fell by more than 7,000 as they came a distant third.

Not really a surprise as the governments tough approach to debt hasn't made them too popular.
Also the proposed job cuts in Manchester could well impact on local people as it's only a few miles away.

Note that it seems that Labour had plans to raise VAT but do not say anything about that now. Nor do they explain how they would fund whatever they do not like about the other things that are in the pipeline.
It is sad that that some voters cannot accept that Labour is the architect of the the present debt problem and have no ideas about how to get out of it.

But if you add the share of the vote for Conservative and LibDem you get more than the Labour share.
So maybe not.
Cameron should have just not run a candidate instead of trying to keep both sides happy and ending up pleasing no-one.

Simply looking at those graphs would initially make you think Labour had gained more than 600 odd votes.

Yes but not to Labour. Which might have been a point.
