Kill or cure

Having caught a summer cold (really not the weather for it), I nostalgically bought some Victory V Lozenges. They still have "Forged for Strength" stamped into them, but are not quite a strong as I remember. In my day, they contained ether.
Then I Googled Gee's Linctus to see if that still exists. I found that it does, but also noticed that it contains Opium Tincture. Honestly, I'm surprised I can remember any of my childhood at all.
