Re: Just for fun

I think it was the Vanden Plas Princess badge that had the Rolls Royce engine.

Come to think of it, @archerry  - You are correct. My memory is failing.🤣

Re: Just for fun

BMC was infamous for their 'badge engineering'.

As kids we were enjoyed playing name-that-car on longer journeys, very much encouraged by Dad.

He had a second hand Austin 3 litre (the successor to that series) when I was learning to drive. A massive car on south Cumbrian roads.

Alistair

Re: Just for fun

Yep, they were massive, Alistair, but from memory they were lovely cars at the time. Driving them in Cumbria was probably 'interesting' - I know they could be unusual in the Derbyshire Dales when we borrowed the Westminster from my dads hire fleet.

@archerry

On the badge business I seem to recall it had the R suffix in recognition of that engine. Don't think they sold that many and they were certainly not a round for that long either.

My grandchildren also play that 'name that car' game we also played as kids only now it is far more difficult if not to say rather bland. They seem to manage to make a game out of it though.

"C'mon Grandad, you must know what this next one is!"

Err, no idea lads sorry.

How time change eh, and reading a little earlier that as from 2025 all Jaguar cars will be electric.

Jaguar? Blimey.

Reading this morning that NASA have landed a Rover on Mars after a 300million mile voyage.

The one I drove back in the 60s barely used to make it the local pub.

Re: Just for fun

Now I know that larger hospitals have chapels, quiet rooms, family rooms etc, but I was taken aback yesterday to see this in a corridor -

Turned out that from my position the rest of it was obscured by a pillar.
